The Dirty Truth About Bathroom Blinds

A lot of people worry when it comes to purchasing window blinds for their bathroom, and for good reason. Get it wrong and you could be victim of moulding, rusting, warping, and in worst case scenarios - the window blinds could physically fall off of your window. This is a result of the high temperature and moisture levels found in a bathroom.

If that is true, why do you see stunning photographs like the one below:

How does this blind not get damaged? Well truthfully, for a photoshoot you could put anything up, it's the long length of time that they are exposed to the conditions found in a bathroom.

But for this example in specific, they are using harrietts moisture resistant blinds. This basically means that they should not be damaged by the moisture and they have been tested to ensure this is true.

You may be confused if you believe this is a wooden blind, but it's surprisingly not - or at least surprising if you don't work in the window blinds industry. These days the faux wood option made of PVC looks incredibly similar to the real wood.

Faux wood has a wood style and grain effect to allow you to match it up with other real wooden blinds around your home, this gives you a fully matching look around your entire home.

There are several other blinds that come with moisture resistant options too, including:

  • Roller blinds
  • Vertical blinds
  • Aluminium venetian blinds
  • Pleated blinds
  • and Shutters, though they are technically not a window blind

Different blinds can be made waterproof in different ways. The wood as we know comes in a PVC option with a wood effect, verticals can also come in PVC - or they came come in fabric with a thin plastic coating, the same as rollers. Bathroom shutters are made out of PVC like the wood except for a smooth wood effect finish to match real wood shutters.
